EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS

Our AANYAA team volunteers their time and energy on your behalf to shine you and your artwork in the best light. Following these guidelines will be appreciated greatly.​

YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT PORTFOLIO PAGE ON AANYAA.ORG

 

We show the Portfolio Page gallery to curators, gallerists, critics, faculty, and more. If you're not included there, you won't be seen. Please make sure that your page is filled out completely, and current.

ACCEPTED ARTWORK MUST BE AVAILABLE

 

Accepted artwork must be available for the exhibition. If you think that the artwork you want to submit may not be available, DO NOT submit the work.

YOUR ARTWORK MUST BE READY TO INSTALL

 

All work must be framed and/or ready for installation with appropriate hanging hardware already in place. This may include D-rings and wire. Check the exhibition Open Call for specific details about the Exhibition Venue's installation requirements (and pedestals). Pieces without hanging hardware and not ready to hang will not be included in the exhibition, nor will any wet paintings or artwork requiring special installation or handling.

Artwork must have adequate identification (your legible name on the back, for example). ​

SHIPPING, DROP-OFF, PICK-UP, RETURN 

 

For each exhibition, AANYAA will share with you place and time deadlines for drop-off, pick-up, and shipment. If your artwork arrives or is requested to be dropped-off outside of the time and place specified for your artwork to be received, we cannot guarantee your work will be shown in the exhibition. 

 

All artists/lenders are responsible for transportation, and insurance, of their work to and from the exhibition.

Representatives from the Exhibition Venue, AANYAA, or NYAA will not handle your work on your behalf. If you are unable to ship or deliver your work yourself, please arrange for a friend or agent to do so on your behalf. â€‹

SHIPPED ARTWORKS 

 
  • All artists who are shipping work should make sure it arrives at on time and at the correct location.

    • Late shipments will not be received.​
       

  • Shipped artworks MUST include a Prepaid Return Shipping Label.

    • It may be a good idea to tape the label to the inside of the box (where it will not get cut).

    • When ordering a prepaid shipping label, ensure that the label can be replaced in case it is lost at the facility. We recommend purchasing the label online with your personal account, and saving a PDF.  

    • C.O.D. deliveries will not be accepted.
       

  • Artwork must be able to withstand the rigors of packaged shipment.

    • Damaged shipments will not be received.

    • Works MUST be shipped in reusable packing cartons.

    • NO PACKING POPCORN!!!​

ARTWORK PICK-UP

​

  • Neither AANYAA, nor NYAA, nor the Exhibition Venue will store artwork for pick-up outside specified place and time.
     

  • Bring your own packing materials and be prepared to help pack up your artwork. 
     

  • Artwork that is not accompanied by a prepaid shipping label or is not picked up by the Artist/Lender or their designated agent by the deadline will be considered abandoned. Ownership of the artwork will then transfer to AANYAA, without compensation to the artist or owner. AANYAA reserves the right to use or dispose of the artwork at its discretion.

ARTWORK RETURN

​

  • Return of artwork via return mail will begin within two weeks of the exhibition's closure.
     

  • Shipped artworks that included a Prepaid Return Shipping Label will be returned to the address specified on the Prepaid Return Shipping Label.
     

  • Artwork that is not accompanied by a prepaid shipping label or is not picked up by the Artist/Lender or their designated agent by the deadline will be considered abandoned. Ownership of the artwork will then transfer to AANYAA, without compensation to the artist or owner. AANYAA reserves the right to use or dispose of the artwork at its discretion.

​SALE OF WORK

 

If your work is available for purchase, you must commit to ONE price prior to submitting your work. AANYAA admin volunteers will not make adjustments to the price of your artwork once it has been submitted. 
 

If stated that AANYAA and the Exhibition Venue are not responsible for the sale or shipment of artwork in an exhibition, all sales and related transactions, including shipment details, are the sole responsibility of the Artist/Lender and the buyer.  

 

AANYAA will publish Artist/Lender's artwork and contact information on AANYAA.org (see example) to allow buyers to reach out directly to the artist. However, AANYAA will not post "sold" notices on AANYAA.org, nor will it act as a mediator in any sales or transaction-related matters.  â€‹â€‹â€‹

​LOAN AGREEMENT, LIABILITY 

 

All reasonable care will be given to objects in the custody of the AANYAA and Exhibition Venue. Exhibition Venue will not, unless otherwise specified, provide any insurance coverage for the Subject Work on display. AANYAA and Exhibition Venue cannot assume responsibility for possible loss in transit or damage or deterioration incurred before the exhibition, or after, if not removed/picked up as stated in exhibition acceptance form(s). All artists/lenders are responsible for transportation, and insurance, of the work to and from the exhibition.

INSURANCE
 

AANYAA or NYAA will not insure work or be responsible for loss or damage. Your submission to the Open Call form releases AANYAA and NYAA from responsibility from any losses.
 

You (the Artist, Agent, or Lender) will maintain personal insurance if you prefer. You will hold harmless AANYAA and NYAA for any and all possible damages that may occur during the time period of your exhibition at the Exhibition Venue. You accept the risks involved and maintains that your own insurance is sufficient coverage. Should AANYAA be subject to accruing a loss for any damages to the walls and Exhibition Venue space provided, the artist will accept and pay the charge as provided by Exhibition Venue's contractor of choice.

AANYAA exhibitions are not facilitated by the "Exhibitions" staff at the Academy; do not contact Exhibitions staff at the Academy with a question about an AANYAA exhibition. If you have questions, you may email info@aanyaa.org.

BY SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION TO THIS AANYAA EXHIBITION, YOU AGREE TO ADHERE TO THESE EXPECTATIONS. FAILURE TO MEET THESE REQUIRMEMENTS MAY RESULT IN YOUR WORK NOT BEING DISPLAYED. WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION. ​
